The Heretical Medal is one of my regular pendant designs and has been part of my work since I first created it in 2020.
Made from a vintage devotional medal depicting the Virgin Mary and Christ, I reworked these two Christian figures into the heretical Witch God and Goddess of the Craft. What was once an object of Christian devotion is thus transformed into an occult and heretical talisman, reclaiming the imagery and giving it an entirely different spiritual meaning.
One side depicts Our Lady of the Void, Our Lady of the Fallen Star, an image of the Goddess of Immensity, the Dark Lady. She is the vastness beyond the known, the darkness from which all things emerge and into which all things eventually return. A presence both distant and intimately close, She embodies the primordial feminine in its most vast and untamed aspect.
The other side presents an image of the Lord of Death, conceived in a distinctly Cainite manner. He is not simply death as an ending, but the figure who stands at the threshold between life and death, knowledge and ignorance, obedience and transgression. His presence evokes the initiatory path of the Witch: a path through darkness, transformation, and forbidden knowledge.
Together, the two faces form a single heretical icon: Goddess and God, Void and Death, the vastness above and the darkness below. A devotional pendant for those who choose to walk beyond the boundaries of established dogma and into the older, darker paths of the Craft.
