On the heels of celebrating the launch of FOUNT Ultd., we would like to take a moment to highlight both the complementary spirit and the important distinctions between Anathema Publishing and FOUNT Unlimited.FOUNT Ultd. and Anathema Publishing Ltd. are fully distinct publishing houses, each defined by its own structure, mandate, and editorial direction, though both emerge in part from the vision of G. McCaughry. They share a steadfast commitment to excellence in bookmaking and to a quality-over-quantity philosophy, yet they operate according to different models and serve complementary, but differentiated, audiences. Anathema remains an independent fine occult press devoted to the creation of refined, collectible editions for the true bibliophile and seeker of mysteries. Every hardcover is issued as a Collector’s or Artisanal Edition, accompanied by a signed and individually numbered tipped-in card. Print runs are strictly limited and are not reprinted in that form. Only once these editions are fully sold out do we typically consider a paperback release. Each Anathema title is conceived as a singular object, with its own distinct visual identity, reflecting a devotion to craftsmanship and to the art of the book as an aesthetic and symbolic form. FOUNT Ultd., by contrast, is a multidisciplinary scholarly publishing house committed to rigorous work in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Religions, and selected areas of Esoterica. Its first-print hardcovers are also limited, yet they are not signed or individually numbered; only the Deluxe editions feature a sewn-in and signed ex libris. FOUNT is intentionally structured to ensure broader accessibility, with many paperback editions produced through print-on-demand, allowing for wider distribution while maintaining high graphic design standards. Whereas each Anathema volume is visually unique, FOUNT titles follow a cohesive, serialized design language, making them immediately recognizable as part of a formal and enduring catalogue. The distinction extends to organization as well. Anathema is largely stewarded by G. McCaughry as a focused, independent endeavor. FOUNT, however, is conceived as a collaborative and expanding platform, already operating as a team effort and aiming to grow further, sharing in the privilege of publishing serious and original scholarship. While FOUNT may, in its early stages, benefit from Anathema’s established reach, the two houses operate independently and will increasingly communicate through their own respective channels.
